Our Journey: Growth and Recognition

We are very proud to present the history of Biosciences and Health, a scientific journal dedicated to disseminating excellence in the fields of biology, science, and health.

Founded in 2023, the journal quickly consolidated its technical foundations and credibility. In the same year of its creation, it obtained:
. ISSN 2965-758X, a registration that formally identifies it as a journal before the international community.
. Affiliation with Crossref, ensuring the persistence and tracking of its digital content.
. The systematic assignment of DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) to all articles, ensuring unique, permanent identification and stable linking.
. Its indexing in Google Scholar, significantly expanding the visibility and access to its collection.

In 2025, the journal took a qualitative leap in its indexing, being accepted in specialized databases and directories of recognized rigor:
. Diadorim (Directory of Editorial Policies of Brazilian Scientific Journals) - It demonstrates that Biosciences and Health has its editorial policies (on ethics, authorship, conflict of interest, open access, etc.) clearly published and in accordance with national standards. This is a basic requirement for credibility for any serious journal in Brazil. It increases the confidence of authors and institutions.
. Miguilim (Directory of Brazilian Electronic Scientific Journals) - It is a directory maintained by IBICT (Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology). Being part of it means that the journal has undergone an initial curation process that verifies essential items such as: regularity, ISSN, open access policy, identified editorial team, and institutional affiliation. It is a first seal of “valid scientific journal” in the Brazilian ecosystem.
. ABEC Brasil (Brazilian Association of Scientific Publishers) - Joining ABEC positions the journal within the professional community of scientific publishers. It provides access to forums, discussions on standardization, courses, and represents a public commitment to ethics and editorial quality. It is a sign of professionalism and the pursuit of continuous improvement.
. Latindex (Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal) - It is the main regional indexing system. Being listed in Latindex puts Biosciences and Health on the radar of researchers, libraries, and institutions throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal. It significantly expands its international audience and prestige in the Ibero-American context.

Also in 2025, we reinforced our commitment to the highest editorial practices by becoming official signatories to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). This endorsement publicly expresses our alignment with the principles of fair, transparent, and content-based research assessment.

The year 2026 marks a historic milestone for Biosciences and Health: the achievement of Qualis C status in the Sucupira platform evaluation for the 2021-2024 quadrennium. This classification, awarded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), formally recognizes the quality and impact of the journal in the national academic and scientific scene.

These achievements are a testament to the unwavering commitment of our editorial team, reviewers, and, above all, the authors who trust our publication to publish their research. We continue to evolve, seeking new heights of excellence and service to the scientific community.
